Fata-Nai is an ancient Chamori game played by the Famagu'on (children
and young adults) of the Songsong. It is a "Show and Tell" type of game as the players try to guess the object being played
out. The Chamori people were a stylish but creative lot, with a profound sense of competitive adventure. A unique rotation
and scoring system is devised using the ancient Chamori Number System.
Rules of Play The game of Fata-Nai is played by Two (2) or more players. A deck of cards are shuffled and
placed face-down at the center of the table. The first player to start the game selects the first card and reads OUT-LOUD
a descriptive phrase about the target. The rest of the players try and guess the target object. The player who guess the right
answer gets a chip. He or She then proceeds to draw another card from the deck. The game goes on until all the cards have
been played. Whoever has the most chips....WINS. Bayogo Seeds or Shells were used as Chips.
Another version of the game uses no cards. It is played on a rotational basis with each player selecting and
playing out his target object. Example: What animal in the ocean never sleeps? Answer is SHARK. Another Example: What is the
official bird of Guahan? Answer: Tottot.
